NearVid provides free, browser-based video trimming, format conversion (to WebM), GIF creation, and audio extraction, using an on-device FFmpeg build. All processing happens locally in your browser; we do not receive, store, or transmit your videos.
NearVid can losslessly trim any video container/codec, and can read MP4/MOV as a source. Re-encoded output includes WebM (VP8 + Vorbis), GIF, MP3 audio extraction, and — on Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers with H.264 encoding support — MP4 (H.264 + AAC), using your browser’s own built-in codecs rather than anything NearVid bundles. The MP4 option only appears when your specific browser and device actually support it; it is not available on every browser.
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Keep backups of your original files.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, NearVid and its operators shall not be liable for any loss or corruption of data, or for any indirect or consequential damages, arising from use of the service.
Do not use the service for unlawful purposes, or to process video you do not have the right to process.
We may update these terms; the “last updated” date reflects the current version.
